"Andy Simms, a
custom home builder in Sonoma, has donated materials to
ReStore, a building materials store that raises money for
Habitat for Humanity's self-help home building projects in
Sonoma County, including windows and doors, whole house
fans, low-flow toilets, even a bath tub. Reusing building
materials, he said, follows the building principle of
deconstruction. "Deconstruction means you methodically
and with forethought take apart the building so you can reuse
certain parts. Everything gets sorted. Some of it goes to
recycle. Some of it goes to reuse," he said. |
